Match the number
Groups of animals down one side, numbers down the other, joined with a pencil line. The numbers are deliberately out of step with the rows, so the page cannot be finished by ruling five straight lines across it.
How to use it
Watch which direction your child works in. Counting a group and then finding that number is the easier way round; picking a number first and then hunting for the group that matches is harder, and worth trying once the first way is comfortable. If the lines start running straight across the page, stop and look — the answers are ordered so that never works, which means the counting has quietly stopped.

Printing notes
- Print at 100%, not "fit to page" — scaling shrinks the digits and the whole point is that your child writes them at a steady size.
- Black-and-white and draft mode are fine. Nothing on these sheets depends on colour.
- Slide a sheet into a punched pocket and a dry-wipe pen turns one page into a hundred goes.
